Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia
  • Oral
    • 6 years up to 10 years
      • 5 mg/day in 1 dose. Max: 80 mg/day. Depending on the effect and tolerance, the dose can be increased to 80 mg/day..
    • 10 years up to 18 years
      • 10 mg/day in 1 dose. Max: 80 mg/day. Depending on the effect and tolerance, the dose can be increased to 80 mg/day..

Renal impaiment in children > 3 months

GFR ≥10 ml/min/1.73m2: Dose adjustment not required.

GFR <10 ml/min/1.73m2: A general recommendation on dose adjustment cannot be provided.

Side effects in children

Paediatric patients aged from 10 to 17 years of age treated with atorvastatin had an adverse experience profile generally similar to that of patients treated with placebo, the most common adverse experiences observed in both groups, regardless of causality assessment, were infections. No clinically significant effect on growth and sexual maturation was observed. (SPC Lipitor)
