Side effects in children

Central nervous system stimulation effects, expressed as overstimulation and hyperactivity, have been reported sporadically after inhalation of β2-sympathomimetics. These effects have primarily been seen in children younger than 12

Contra-indications

No information available on specific contra indications in children.

Warnings & precautions in children

Before prescribing formoterol, a bronchodilatory response should be confirmed by making an FEV1 measurement before and after beta-2 mimetics. An alternative to the lung function measurements in children aged less than 6 years is a good response to a LABA or SABA that has been administered. There is insufficient data known about the use of formoterol in children aged under 6 years.
