Dosages

Maintenance treatment for migraine and migraine-like headaches
  • Oral
    • 2 years up to 18 years
      • 0.5 - 1.5 mg/day in 1 - 3 doses.
      • Directions for administration:

        Doses of up to 1 mg may be given in one go, in the evening

      • The dosage above is equivalent to the dosing that has been listed for pizotifen in the authorization dossier. The study by Gillies et al. shows that this dosage is not effective in older children (7-14 years). Further studies are required regarding the effectiveness of this dosage in older children.

Renal impaiment in children > 3 months

GFR ≥10 ml/min/1.73m2: Dose adjustment not required.

GFR <10 ml/min/1.73m2: A general recommendation on dose adjustment cannot be provided.
