Dosages

Tapeworm (cattle, pigs, fish)
  • Oral
    • < 2 years

      • 500 mg/dose, once only.
      • Directions for administration:
        • The daily dose must be taken in one go after breakfast.
        • The chewable tablets should be chewed into a fine paste and then swallowed with a small amount of water. The tablets can also be allowed to fall apart in water and then taken.
        • For young children, the chewable tablets should be powdered finely before administration and given with a little water.
        • It's recommended to drink sour fruit juices before the treatment with niclosamide to remove excess intestinal mucus. This way exposure of the tapeworm to the drug is enhanced.
        • It's recommended to administer laxative treatment two hours after the last dose, especially in T. Solium infections, to prevent the development of cysticercosis
    • 2 years up to 6 years
