Dosages

Weakening of the skeletal muscles
  • Intravenous
    • Premature infants Gestational age < 37 weeks

      • Initial dose: In intubation: 0.1 mg/kg/dose, once only.
      • Maintenance dose: 0.025 - 0.05 mg/kg/hour, continuous infusion.
    • Full-term neonates and infants 0 months up to 5 months

      • Initial dose: Vecuroniumbromid: 0.01 - 0.02 mg/kg/dose, once only.
      • Maintenance dose: Gradually increase test dose until 90-95% suppression of twitch response is achieved: Vecuroniumbromid:
        0.02 - 0.1
        mg/kg/dose, as required additional doses based on twitch reponse. Max: 0.1 mg/kg/dose.
    • 5 months up to 18 years

      • Initial dose: In intubation: Vecuroniumbromid: 0.08 - 0.1 mg/kg/dose, once only.
      • Maintenance dose: Vecuroniumbromid: 0.05 - 0.1 mg/kg/hour, continuous infusion.  .
        • In infants 5 months - 2 y.ears no high intubation doses are usually necessary (due to a faster onset of efficacy in this age group).
        • In children 2 years - 11 years, shorter intervals between maintenance doses are usually necessary (due to the shorter duration of efficacy in this age group).
        • ALTERNATIVE: Vecuroniumbromid: 0.02-0.03 mg/kg/dose

Renal impaiment in children > 3 months

GFR ≥10 ml/min/1.73m2: Dose adjustment not required.

GFR <10 ml/min/1.73m2: A general recommendation on dose adjustment cannot be provided.
