Resorption: after conversion to benzoic acid, benzoyl peroxide is partially absorbed by intact skin. There is only minimal absorption of clindamycin through the skin. Metabolization: benzoyl peroxide is converted to benzoic acid (primarily in the dermis) and then hippuric acid. Elimination: with the urine as hippuric acid.
