Dosages

Maintenance requirement for phosphate in TPN
  • Intravenous
    • < 2 kg
      • From the fifth day of life: 1.2 mmol/kg/day, continuous infusion.
        • = 0.8 ml/kg/day at a phosphate concentration of 1.5 mmol/ml
        • Dose depending on plasma concentration.
        • Do not administer undiluted as a bolus. Be aware of the potential for arrhythmia when infused too fast: the maximum administration rate is 0.05 mmol phosphate/kg/hour, with an injection pump.

No clinical studies have been carried out into the use of potassium sodium phosphate in children.

    • 2 up to 7 kg
      • From the fifth day of life: 0.75 mmol/kg/day, continuous infusion.
        • = 0.5 ml/kg/day at a phosphate concentration of 1.5 mmol/ml
        • Dose depending on plasma concentration.
        • Do not administer undiluted as a bolus. Be aware of the potential for arrhythmia when infused too fast: the maximum administration rate is 0.05 mmol phosphate/kg/hour, with an injection pump

        • Dose depending on plasma concentration.
        • Do not administer undiluted as a bolus. Be aware of the potential for arrhythmia when infused too fast: the maximum administration rate is 0.05 mmol phosphate/kg/hour, with an injection pump.

        • Dose depending on plasma concentration.
