Metabolic acidosis caused by chronic renal impairment; alkalisation of urine

      • 47.6 mmol/m²/day in 3 - 4 doses.
      • Adjust the dose depending on the pH of the urine: target pH value is 7-7.5

      • Initial dose: 1 - 2 mmol/kg/day, once only. Followed by an infusion of 132 mmol in 1 l of glucose solution (50 g/l) at an infusion rate of 1.5-2 times the rate of maintenance fluid; infusion rate max. 1.5 mmol (= 126 mg) per kg per hour..
      • Adjust the dose depending on the pH of the urine: target pH value is 7-7.5
