Side effects in children

Systemic use of tetracyclines during tooth development (children under 8 years of age) can cause permanent discolouration and slow down skeletal development. Hypoplasia of the tooth enamel has also been reported. Although it is not likely that these effects will occur after topical use, the possibility should be taken into account. [
