Warnings & precautions in children

The effect in infants and toddlers has not been studied. Because methaemoglobin reductase is not completely effective in these children there is a serious danger of further increases in the methaemoglobin concentration and toxicity due to excess methaemoglobin. Target methaemoglobin concentration: 30-40%. At more than 50%, methylene blue is indicated.
