Dosages

Severe metabolic acidosis combined with respiratory acidosis. Metabolic acidosis in neonates, infants and children with hypernatraemia
  • Intravenous
    • 0 years up to 18 years
      • Number of ml trometamol (0.3M) = base deficit (mmol/l) x weight (kg) x 0.5 in 30-60 minutes.
Repeat if necessary. This is the theoretical value for a half correction of the base deficit.

        Maximum dose: Maximum 500 mg/kg/dose = 13.9 ml/kg/dose. .

The quantity of trometamol needed for complete correction of the base deficit is:
        Number of ml trometamol (0.3M) = bodyweight (kg) x base deficit (mmol/l) x 1.1
