Side effects in children

Warnings & precautions in children

In infants, the diaper may act as an occlusive dressing, increasing systemic absorption and causing systemic effects. Children have relatively large skin areas and thin skin. Prolonged use of dermatocorticosteroids on large and damaged skin areas can potentially lead to more rapid systemic side effects, adrenal suppression and also growth hormone suppression. Therefore, when long-term application is necessary, regular monitoring of height and weight is recommended.

Careful consideration is needed when applied to the eyelids because of the possibility of contaminating the conjunctiva (and the risk of glaucoma simplex or subcapsular cataracts occurring) on the one hand, and the risk of corneal damage due to the continuous rubbing/scratching of untreated eczema on the other.
