Warnings & precautions in children

In children, the indication should be strictly defined due to the growth-inhibiting effect of glucocorticoids and the longitudinal growth should be regularly monitored during long-term therapy.
Special viral diseases (chickenpox, measles) can be particularly severe in patients treated with glucocorticoids. Immunocompromised children and people with no previous chickenpox or measles infection are particularly at risk. If these patients have contact with people suffering from measles or chickenpox during treatment with betamethasone, preventive treatment should be initiated if necessary.
